Poken has been pioneering the use of NFC+ devices and mobile applications to create the world’s first “touch” based marketing platform – which it sees as the next frontier in the delivery of complete end-to-end customer experiences for events, promotions and tradeshows.
Our revolutionary marketing solutions have been recently recognized by the World Mobile Congress, where the Poken team won “Best Innovation in Mobile Advertising”, beating six other nominees, including Google Wallet and innovations by other big names from the mobile industry.
With increasing traction worldwide for our “touch” based marketing business model, along with a successful $2m fundraising, Poken has hired a new “growth stage” CEO, Sri Chilukuri, who will lead the company into the next phase of its development. A long-time Silicon Valley native, Sri spent 10 years at Adobe as a GM, then enjoyed stops at VA Linux, and Xerox before starting Content Circles, which was sold to Skype last June. Jeff Heywood, another Silicon Valley veteran, is also joining Poken as CFO.
Poken’s founder and current CEO, Stéphane Doutriaux, remains with the company as Chief Technology Officer and will head up Poken’s innovation centers in Product and Engineering.
Additionally, on April 1st, Poken will move its headquarters to Palo Alto, California. The new senior management team will help structure and accelerate growth in the US market, while addressing the needs of large industry partners, such as Standard Register Healthcare, Microsoft, Nokia and PWC.

So it’s not a coincidence that many of our fans love car racing. Some of them have branded their racecars: from Formula-2 in Europe to Drag Racing in Australia, we’ve seen at least 5 Poken-branded speedsters whizzing by.
But it’s not only our car fans that have been using Poken. Car brands, such as BMW (in Germany and Holland), Mini (in Japan and Romania) and Fiat (in Paris) have been using our products and platform to generate high quality sales leads and differentiate their brand in this highly competitive market.
BMW distributes pokens to attendees at car shows to enabled people to collect digital brochures about the different cars. Extracting detailed metrics, the company can then find out the models visitors are most interested in.
Mini has incorporated Poken into the welcome package every new owner receives when they purchase a car. The company created a community that enhances online and offline interactions between Mini owners, and provides them with limited edition offers and collectibles (such as an unreleased music track) at their events, adding value to their loyalty program.
Fiat uses Poken to extract useful metrics and consumer insights from their flagship stores. This information is used to fine-tune the creation of marketing and communication materials.
In addition to these major car brands, a leading American car magazine uses Poken to revive its large database of archived articles and reviews. Based on the models and car brands visitors collect at car shows, they are suggested to read appropriate articles and reviews.

A few months ago, Hemispheres, the United and Continental airlines onboard Magazine, was spreading the word about Poken to it’s 12 million readers.

Turns out that people not only like to talk but also to Poken. These two social activities combined transform a regular event into a social networking masterpiece! This happened recently during the last School of WOM Event held in Chicago where mainstay companies such as Pemco Insurance, GAP, and Intuit gathered to reveal and discuss the importance of the “word of mouth” strategy.
The event was organized by WOMMA a nonprofit organization that advances and advocates the discipline of the credible word of mouth marketing. WOMMA is a community of marketers that meet and strategize on best practices as it relates to customers talking online and offline about various brands.
The recent School of WOM Event was a smashing success, enhanced big time by Poken. Yep, once again Poken was the key tool that generated a word of mouth buzz.
